Dot NAME Domains

Launched in 2001, the .NAME universal TLD is the single TLD meant for personal sites only. These domains can include personal or fictional names, aliases and/or other titles people are known by. At the beginning, only 3rd-level registrations were possible, so if you wanted to reserve john.doe.name, you would have to do that under .doe.name. In 2004, however, the registration procedures were loosened and second-level registrations were also allowed. Already purchased 3rd-level domains remained working.
